a whopping nine out of ten internet users say they have adjusted their online behavior out of fear of falling victim to software intrusions. INSTANT MESSAGING MARKET TO REACH 867 MILLION ACCOUNTS BY 2005
There's no denying IM is here to stay. A new study by The Radicati Group reports use of instant messaging amongst consumer and business users is expected to drive the instant messaging market from 867 million accounts in 2005, to approximately 1.2 billion accounts in 2009.

P2P FILE-SHARING USER NUMBERS STILL GROWING
While probably not a big surprise to us in the IT Security field, statistics released by online media measurement company BigChampagne indicate that the average number of simultaneous, individual connections to file sharing networks has increased to around 9 million by June, 2005. This contrasts dramatically with an August, 2003 figure of just under 4 million users.

SWEDEN CURBS RAMPANT DOWNLOADING
The only European nation that lets people download copyrighted material for personal use has finally changed its policy. However, experts expect the new law won't make much of a difference.
"There is nothing that indicates that (the pirates) would change their behavior," said Henrik Ponten, a spokesman for Antipiratbyran, a Swedish anti-piracy agency funded by film studios and game makers.
